The Magic of Stories/Seħer l-Istejjer is a family literacy programme intended for children between 4 and 7 years of age, and their parents/guardians. The primary aim of this programme is to promote a love of reading among children and their parents/guardians. Weekly sessions are held free of charge, during which several stories are read in a fun and motivating environment, to stimulate children’s imagination. These sessions are being held in primary schools, in public libraries, local councils, parish centres and open spaces in Malta and in Gozo.
Stories from books are animated in a way which stimulates the children’s imagination. This provides also learning opportunities for both children and their parents. The foundations are laid for the children to become enthusiastic readers.
